Patsaouras Plaza Pavers Problematic

Published: Friday, October 6, 2006 5:11 PM PDT
The paving stones comprising the driving surface at Patsaouras Transit Plaza at Union Station are once again showing signs of disrepair at the top of the ramp where buses enter from and exit onto Vignes Street. The stones, which are set in sand over a parking garage at the MTA headquarters building, have been a problem at least once in the past at each end of the hippodrome-shaped plaza, when the continuous stream of buses moved them out of place, said Rick Jager, a spokesman for Metro. ProLogis, the company that owns Union Station, is leaning toward a weekend repair sometime this month, and will look into a long-term preventative maintenance program, a company representative said.
